Kedai Kopi Sejahtera is a nostalgic reinterpretation of the traditional Southeast Asian kopitiam interior design, brought to life by entrepreneur and content creator Arief Muhammad. Located in Karawaci, this coffee shop blends the personal memories of childhood in Batam with a warm and grounded spatial experience.
Tasked with renovating an existing structure, our design approach focused on enhancing the emotional narrative of the brand while responding to the site’s physical character. We added a semi-outdoor transition zone, allowing the café to breathe with natural light and airflow—bridging the indoor space to its surrounding context in a way that feels seamless and sincere.
The interior celebrates material authenticity: from solid wood furniture, carved timber details, to textural finishes that evoke timeless kopitiam aesthetics. These elements bring out a tactile memory of the past—an atmosphere that is simple, heartfelt, and enduring.
More than just a coffee shop, Kedai Kopi Sejahtera is a spatial tribute to regional memory, wrapped in a design that is both familiar and refreshingly honest. It captures the essence of kopitiam interior design not as a trend, but as an emotional architecture rooted in everyday life.
