Little Contrast x Samande — A Blend of Brew and Heritage
In 2024, Little Contrast expanded to the Kopo area of Bandung, this time in collaboration with Samande—an authentic Minang eatery known for its signature dishes rooted in family heritage. The space marks a new chapter where two strong identities meet: the curated coffee experience of Little Contrast and the rich culinary tradition of Samande.
Set within a modest ruko unit, the design concept embraces the essence of Minang authenticity while still aligning with the approachable, community-driven vibe of a modern coffee shop. We responded to the context with an open-layout strategy, mimicking the openness of traditional Minang food stalls. A combination of sheer drapes, vintage-inspired dining furniture, and Megateak wood accents sets the tone for an inviting, nostalgic atmosphere.
The L-shaped bar was formed out of spatial necessity, accommodating both coffee service and Samande’s signature prasmanan setup. Meanwhile, the ceiling was tactfully disguised with a muted green tone—camouflaging the rigid ruko structure and lending a soft, breathable feel to the space.
This branch is more than a merger—it’s a celebration of two everyday rituals: coffee and comfort food, brought together in one harmonious space.
